CHRIS KING HEADSETS

User serviceable and likely to outlast a few frames.

Chris King designed the first sealed bearing headset in 1976. Thirty-four years later, the King headset remains a benchmark for quality. No other bicycle component can claim the precision, performance and absolute reliability of a Chris King headset.

At Chris King Precision Components, we manufacture each headset in our own facility to exacting standards, using quality-at-the-source methods to minimize waste. Even the sealed, cartridge style bearings are made in-house and are hand-checked.

We believe this component so well represents us that we offer a 10-year warranty on all models.

Our standard headsets are available in 4 different models, 4 sizes and 10 colors. We make a stainless steel headset and 3 absolutely gorgeous titanium models. You’ find our headsets are ideal for every type of bicycle and all styles of riding.

Authorized Retailers
Chris King Precision Components strongly advises you to purchase components only from authorized retailers such as your trusted neighborhood bicycle retailer. When you buy from an authorized dealer, you are assured of a high level of quality, reliability, and warranty coverage. If you believe you have purchased a counterfeit component or doubt the reliability of the seller,

Chris King sealed bearing headsets now feature the Sotto Voce logo mark in all ten available colors. We believe this subtle logo style better complements a quality bicycle. For those who desire the classic King style, most headsets are available with either a Bright Silver King logo or Sotto Voce style King logo.

-Sotto Voce (sot-toh voh-che) is an Italian term used in music to denote a dramatic lowering of the tone. It literally means “under voice” but can be translated as “soft voice”.

CHRIS KING HUBS

Chris King hubs have a well-earned reputation in the marketplace. Whether for their long-wearing durability or their ease of service, King hubs are a favorite of shop mechanics and tech editors the world over. But strength and durability do not come at a performance cost. King hubs are as fast as any hub in the game. Even with a legendary sealing system that affords a 5-year warranty in all conditions, King hubs have rolled to numerous professional wins on and off road.

Inside the hubshells, the business transaction of putting your power to work, is where you’ll find what matter most. Yes, everyone loves our colors, but it’s our bearings, axles and engagement system that have earned the trust of discerning cyclists. We make our own bearings in-house, each hand-checked for precision and built with a robust sealing system. Best of all? Service them yourself! Our strong, constant diameter axles run through the bearings to the frame and fork dropouts for precise handling and stiffness under power.

Every King rear hub is powered by Chris’s patented RingDrive™ engagement system. This unique design offers instant, positive engagement that is over 3 times quicker than a standard 24-tooth pawl-type freehub. RingDrive™ uses 72 engagement teeth on stainless steel drive and driven rings for a system that is capable of handling torque load of over 800 ft/lbs. Our R45 road racing hub has it’s own 45-tooth stainless steel RingDrive™ for further reduced drag and noise.

Make no mistake, strong, durable hubs do not translate to slow. The R45 has been ridden to over 100 professional and elite victories since its introduction in 2010. In 2011, King ISO hubs have been ridden to 2 World Cup Downhill victories by the Santa Cruz Syndicate, 3 Crankworx wins by Brian Lopes (Ibis), and victories at Trans-Andes, Transylvania Epic (3 stages), & BC Bike Race (3 stages) by Team Jamis.

We offer hubs for nearly every discipline from BMX to MTB to CX to Road including tandem.

Every Chris King hub carries a 5-year warranty and is available in 10 anodized colors

CHRIS KING BOTTOM BRACKETS

STAINLESS STEEL BOTTOM BRACKET

We’ve been making our own stainless-steel sealed bearings here at King for 35 years and never has there been a component that benefited more from their quality and durability than the external bottom bracket. The Chris King bottom bracket is specifically designed for crank systems with outboard bearing cups and is available in the full assortment of colors that only King can do.

It all starts with the bearings. We make our own bearings in-house and our process allows us to place more balls per bearing, 24 to be exact, than our competitors. More rolling elements per bearing translates to a stronger overall bearing system. A bottom-bracket specific upgrade to our legendary sealing system allows the bearings to be purged and re-greased using our precision made injector tool. This combination of strength and serviceability gives us the confidence to offer an industry-leading 5-year warranty on our bottom brackets.

  • 100% made in the USA.
  • 5-year warranty.
  • Fully serviceable sealed bearings.
  • Bearing seals designed to work with our BB Injector Tool allowing you to easily put new grease in your bottom bracket bearings.
  • Easily inject your choice of grease for different riding conditions.
  • Road available in Shimano™ and SRAM™ 68mm standard options. Mountain available in Shimano™ and SRAM™ 68/73mm standard, 83mm downhill and 100mm fat bike options.

CERAMIC BOTTOM BRACKET

The Chris King Ceramic Bearing Bottom Bracket is identical in construction and compatibility to our stainless steel bearing bottom bracket. All the Chris King qualities you love remain the same – Durability, Serviceability, Performance & Made in the USA. To this we’ve added ceramic balls, which are lighter, harder and with greater roundness than stainless balls, for a bearing with exceptional speed and strength.

Chris’s bearing design allows us to use more rolling elements, or balls, than production-house bearings and we squeeze 24 into each bearing. More balls per bearing amplifies the greater strength of the individual ceramic ball and when built into our acclaimed stainless steel races make a foundation for smooth and strong pedaling. The ceramic balls are harder and lighter which translates to faster movement with reduced friction. The combination of these factors when paired with our reliable sealing system allows us to use a very small amount of low-viscosity lube in the bearing meaning very little drag in the bearing. The result? You pedal with greater efficiency.

Partner this bottom bracket with our BB Injector Tool to quickly and easily repack your bearing grease and you have a high-performance bottom bracket that will last a long, long time.
