Endura Stealth Jacket Review

Endura is a Scottish company based in Livingston just down the road from FreeFlow HQ and produces high quality cycle clothing.

The Endura Stealth Jacket is an example of one of their high quality products, and is the jacket I personally own and use on a regular basis.

The Stealth comes in three different colours, black, red and Blue and is a slim fit jacket ideal for roadies as well as mountain bikers. This is a soft-shell jacket and is fully waterproof (10,000mm) and very breathable (5,000gms). When cycling I find that my core temperature raises and breathability can become an issue when wearing a cycling jacket, but this is not the case with the Endura Stealth Jacket, unlike other jackets I have owned from different manufacturers where they are “boil in the bag” jackets!

As for warmth, I have never been cold when wearing this jacket, I have been out in the hail, snow and heavy rain and have always been warm and dry.

The Endura Stealth Jacket comes with some well thought out nifty little features such as the welded chest pocket with iPod® port, waterproof wrist zips, side and underarm zip vents and heavy duty rubber loop on back of jacket for attaching a red led for night riding. The jacket also features one large zipped pocket which covers nearly the full width of your back and a smaller zipped pocket on the back, plenty of space to carry a pump, gels, phone, spare inner tubes etc.

I have used this jacket while out mountain biking and when out on my road bike and it’s a very versatile jacket. Don’t let the price tag of £169.99 put you off as it really is an awesome jacket, it’s true what they say, “You get what you pay for“.

Don’t just take my word for it, read the product reviews below:

“For MTBing in all weathers, Endura’s award-winning soft-shell may appeal. Stretch Entrant fabric brings warmth and some give to the fabric… it’s insulating properties mean a single base layer is often all that’s needed underneath.”

“The waterproof softshell has always done well in previous tests… The stretchy fleece-backed material offers an amazingly comfortable ride and the close cut makes it a great trail jacket. It features ultrasonically welded seams with external taping so there’s no stitching to leak and is seamless on the skin. Naturally all zips are sealed too… Endura have thought of everything. At this price it offers amazing performance and is worth every penny. This is a must-have winter jacket if you want to stay warm and dry on the trails when the mercury falls.”

“For mountain biking, the fabric’s proved too tough for bramble-snagging crashes and stony slide-outs. For commuting, the reflective striping all over and rear light clip are ideal. And for roadies, it’s the cut and weight-savings that work. Wear a separate fleece for the warmth and a jacket for the cold? That’s so 2006.”stuff.tv article here

“Endura’s new Stealth Jacket is unique, not only in the test, but within the cycling industry. Despite it’s price tag, the Stealth is excellent value. It effectively replaces a full waterproof and a thermal jacket… The Stealth could be the saviour.”
